Community Dance in Binghamton is excited to sponsor a full day of the most enjoyable, fun activities you will ever experience. Everyone is welcome, there are workshops for newcomers and experienced dancers. The Saturday features New England style contradance and English Country Dance, as well as Irish and waltz. Come alone or with a partner, or with a group of friends!
Due to illness, Linda Leslie, who was scheduled to be our caller for this year's Kindred Spirits, has had to cancel. We are pleased to have Jenny Beer from Philadelphia taking her place. Jenny has been twirling and turning ever since 1973. She taught contra & ECD at Swarthmore College for many years and will be calling English and contra dances throughout the event.
In addition, two wonderful bands will provide great live music all day. This year we feature Wild Rose for contra and Fine Companions for English. Wild Rose has appeared throughout the central NY region, playing for dances and concerts, delighting audiences with their fresh take on traditional styles. Fine Companions is known throughout the northeast for creative, high-quality music tailored to English country dance.
The weekend is "come as you are." Important shoe policy - please bring clean soft-soled shoes to change into before dancing. Any metal or other abrasive on the bottom of shoes will scratch the floor. Many tennis shoes hold stones and grit in their treads and will damage the floor too.
